Bhutan Partners with Binance to Launch Crypto Tourism Payment System

Bhutan becomes the first country in the world to launch a national-level crypto tourism payment system, in partnership with Binance Pay and DK Bank, ushering in a new era of digital tourism.

Bhutan Partners With Binance To Launch Crypto Tourism Payment System

Binance Pay–Bhutan Partnership Launches World’s First National Crypto Tourism Payment System

Bhutan – a small Himalayan kingdom – has officially launched the world’s first national-level crypto tourism payment system, in collaboration with Binance Pay and DK Bank. Tourists visiting Bhutan can now pay for nearly every aspect of their trip using cryptocurrencies – from airline tickets, hotel stays, and visa fees to even fresh fruit from roadside stalls.

The system currently supports over 100 merchants nationwide. Travelers simply scan a QR code using the Binance app to make real-time payments in more than 100 cryptocurrencies, including BTC, BNB, and USDC. DK Bank instantly settles each transaction in Bhutan’s local currency, ensuring a smooth experience for both merchants and tourists.

Beyond its convenience for tourists, this new payment system also opens opportunities for small businesses in remote regions—where traditional card payment infrastructure is lacking. With just a smartphone, local vendors can now accept crypto payments.

Damcho Rinzin, Director at the Department of Tourism, stated that the Binance Pay–Bhutan partnership demonstrates “a commitment to innovation, inclusion, and convenience.” He emphasized that the system removes cross-border payment friction, with zero gas fees and no reliance on international card networks.

This pioneering model not only benefits Bhutan but is also expected to inspire similar initiatives around the world, further promoting the real-world utility of cryptocurrencies.

Binance Pay and DK Bank Deliver a National-Scale Solution

This landmark initiative shows that crypto can do more than move money—it can connect people, cultures, and economies. Binance CEO Richard Teng said the Binance Pay–Bhutan partnership sets a global precedent for how crypto can elevate the travel experience.

DK Bank, Bhutan’s first fully digital bank, is licensed and ensures all transactions are settled domestically. In partnership with Binance Pay, they have built an integrated, functional system that is already making a meaningful impact on the country’s tourism industry.

As Binance continues to expand real-world crypto use cases in tourism, investor confidence in its BNB token is also growing. Standard Chartered now predicts BNB could more than double in value by 2025, driven by ETF filings and AI integration efforts.
