According to on-chain data, a mysterious Bitcoin whale holding over 80,000 BTC has made a significant move in the past few hours.
On July 15, 2025, Lookonchain reported that this whale transferred 16,843 BTC (approximately $2 billion) to Galaxy Digital, a leading OTC trading firm in the cryptocurrency space. Shortly after, Galaxy Digital transferred 2,000 BTC from this amount to exchanges Bybit and Binance.
This move suggests that the whale may be gradually selling BTC to take profits after holding for 14 years. Earlier in July, this wallet cluster “awoke” and moved 80,009 BTC (around $8.7 billion at the time). Just days later, Bitcoin’s price surged from $107,000 to a record high of $123,000, bringing the whale’s asset value to $9.8 billion.
The cryptocurrency community is buzzing with speculation about the identity of this whale. Analyst Conor Grogan from Coinbase believes this could be a miner who has been part of the Bitcoin network since 2011.
