Yesterday, U.S. President Donald Trump launched a strong attack on billionaire Elon Musk on the Truth Social platform, describing Musk as “completely off the rails” and becoming “a political disaster” over the past five weeks. Trump bluntly rejected Musk’s idea of forming a third party, calling it a “ridiculous idea” because the American political system “is not designed” for fringe parties. He warned that a new party would only lead to “chaos and total disarray,” something that the U.S. has already endured too much from the “extreme Democratic faction.”
Musk Announces “America Party,” Challenges the Political System
Earlier, on Saturday, Elon Musk announced the formation of the “America Party,” asserting that the American people are craving a new political option. Citing survey results on X, Musk stated that voters support the idea of a new party at double the rate of those opposed. He criticized both the Republican and Democratic parties for “waste and corruption,” calling the current political system a “disguised one-party system.” Musk emphasized that the “America Party” would represent 80% of the people outside the political extremes, bringing “true freedom” to America.
Trump Responds
Unmoved, Trump praised the Republican Party as a “well-oiled machine” and expressed pride in recent legislative achievements. He particularly highlighted the passage of a landmark bill that eliminates the federal mandate for electric vehicles—a long-standing commitment in his campaign. Trump asserted that this law grants freedom to the American people in choosing their vehicles, from gas-powered cars to hybrids and advanced technologies in the future.
Trump revealed that he once asked Musk about repealing electric vehicle regulations, and Musk reportedly replied that he “didn’t care.” The president called this response “extremely surprising,” especially since Musk had previously given him “absolute support.” Trump also criticized Musk for requesting the appointment of a close friend, described as a “true Democrat,” to lead NASA, arguing that this was inappropriate given NASA’s crucial role in Musk’s business activities.

Tensions Lead to Personal Attacks
The dispute between the two powerful figures began to heat up in late June. On June 28, Musk posted on X that the new Senate bill would “destroy millions of jobs” and cause “serious strategic harm” to the U.S., calling it the Republican Party’s “political suicide.” In response, Trump announced that he would use the DOGE program that Musk once oversaw to investigate federal contracts involving Musk’s companies.
By July 1, Musk shifted to personal attacks, announcing his support for the reelection campaign of Representative Thomas Massie, who voted against Trump’s bill. On the same day, Trump threatened to “consider” expelling Musk, a South African-born American citizen, from the U.S. In response, Russian politician Dmitry Novikov stated that Russia is ready to grant political asylum to Musk if needed, although he believes the situation “is not that severe yet.” Musk has not responded to this statement.
