Starting from June 12, Telegram will launch a new internal cryptocurrency called Stars. This virtual currency will be used for transactions on Telegram’s bot apps and mini-apps.
Several developers have reported receiving notifications about the release of this new currency, and the “Telegram Marketing” channel has also mentioned it. According to reports, Apple has warned Telegram about violating App Store Guidelines sections 4.7 and 3.1.1, which concern accepting payments and providing services to customers without using Apple’s in-app purchase system.
Users will be able to purchase Stars through the App Store and Google Play’s shopping tools, likely incurring a service fee of around 30%. Developers will be able to withdraw Stars in the form of TON.
Currently, users of Telegram’s bot apps and mini-apps can pay directly for services, such as purchasing a Premium package through the @PremiumBot at a lower cost compared to using the in-app purchase systems of the App Store and Google Play.
Telegram and Cryptocurrency
Telegram, a versatile app for text and messaging, has recently surprised the cryptocurrency community by launching Notcoin (NOT) on its platform, attracting nearly 40 million users. Notcoin has also conducted significant airdrops, distributing up to 78% of the total supply to participants in the Tap to Earn program.
Furthermore, Notcoin is the 54th project on Binance Launchpool.
