Scroll, a Layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum that utilizes Zero-Knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zKEVM) technology, has announced plans for an airdrop of its governance token, SCR.
The snapshot for Scroll is set for October 19, with the SCR token airdrop scheduled for October 22, 2024.
The Scroll team stated that the tokenomics are designed to optimize the impact on the community and expand global distribution for the protocol’s applications and services.
According to the announcement, the total supply of Scroll will be 1 billion SCR tokens, with the following allocation:
- 15% for two community airdrops: 7% for the first round and 8% for the next round over the following 18 months.
- 25% allocated to fund projects developing on the Scroll platform.
- 20% equally divided between the Scroll DAO treasury and the Scroll Foundation.
- 17% allocated to investors.
- 23% allocated to contributors to Scroll.
October 19 is the snapshot date for Scroll’s airdrop, the last day for users to interact with the protocol to be eligible for the reward tokens. The first airdrop round is expected to start on October 22, 2024.
Scroll is a project developing Layer-2 scaling solutions for Ethereum through zk-Rollups, using zero-knowledge proof technology to ensure data accuracy and maintain user privacy. The project has also been announced as the 60th Binance Launchpool project.

In March 2023, Scroll raised $50 million, bringing its valuation to $1.8 billion. During the same period, the project launched its zkEVM product on the Goerli testnet, bringing it closer to mainnet. Scroll later deployed the Darwin upgrade to reduce gas fees for users.
