Introduction to Linea
Linea is a Layer-2 blockchain network on Ethereum developed by ConsenSys, utilizing zero-knowledge rollup (zkEVM) technology to provide fast, low-cost, and secure transactions while maintaining full compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). The goal of Linea is to scale Ethereum, reduce transaction fees (approximately 1/25–1/30 compared to the Ethereum mainnet), and increase throughput, with a capacity of up to 6,200 TPS.
Launched in July 2023, Linea has achieved over 230 million transactions, more than 420 ecosystem partners, a Total Value Locked (TVL) of $412 million, and over 317,000 daily active users as of 2025. Linea employs zk-SNARKs and post-quantum cryptography to enhance performance, security, and privacy. The network does not have a native token, uses ETH for gas fees, and offers community incentive programs like L-XP and Voyage. Linea also supports cross-chain compatibility, account abstraction, and a modular architecture.
